This a new group of needle felted pieces I am working on as I have two shows coming up. On October I will be in a PopUp at Sarah Cornwell’s Jewelery store in Doylestown with other artists. Then in November we have the Show and Sell of the Handweavers of Bucks County, so I am preparing myself for them.
This selection is of watercolors, pastels, inks and a paper transference to watercolor paper. I just spend the time trying out things, it is so much fun! I have a lot of colors in my head… I have the tropic in there!
Last April , my friends Mary Carmen , Maria and I, “las tres Marias” (the three Mary’s) we went to visit Rome for one week. We stayed in the Trastevere, and we spent the whole week walking all over to the ruins, the Colosseum, the churches, the Vatican,the Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, you can see them all in my collage. It was so much fun, we ate good food and drank Aperol, but the best of all was to be together and laugh a lot! We went back home very tired but happy!
I made a collage with a map , pictures and drawings that I made. The heart on top is a heart made of lapis lazuli, the stone of Rome.
Mix media it is! I painted the base with acrylics and drew the butterflies and the dragonfly on white tissue paper. I transferred them on the painted watercolor paper with mate medium, they came out quite transparent, it was fun to do. After I painted them and finished with watercolors and watercolor pens. It took time but I am happy with the result.
I am trying pastels as a medium, not easy any of them, but very messy!
