corazon sembrado – planted heart

Designed by Anne-Marie Herrera , hooked and felted by Gun-Marie Nalsen 2021

Rug hooking and needle felting

Hand dyed wool roving , hand dyed wool fabric, sari silk yarn and wool yarn on linen

Mounted on canvas fabric on a wood stretcher

14″ x 20″

This was a commission for a friend. She wanted a heart with flowers, so I made contact with my daughter Anne-Marie and she made this design perfect for what she wanted. It was so much fun to build up the heart with different materials. The leaves and the flowers were felted. The background has some insinuated butterflies. My son Miguel made the stretcher and covered with canvas, it came out good. A lot of work, but worthwhile! It was really three pairs of hands in it!
