bucare

Woven and designed by Gun-Marie Nalsen 2020

Tapestry

Wool , polyester, linen and cotton yarn, strips of wool fabric on linen warp

Mounted on a stick from the garden

9″ x 12″

It was fun to make this piece, I started not knowing what I was going to weave, which happens almost every time I start a small tapestry. Suddenly a tree and flowers appeared, the mountains in the back got natural as I worked.

colors in the sky

Designed and felted by Gun-Marie Nalsen 2020

Needle felting

Hand dyed wool roving on wool fabric

Framed

4″ x 8″

Fun to make sunsets in felting, playing with the colors. Practicing a different way of felting without needles, just putting the fibers one on top of the other, and pressing all with the glass of the frame, interesting effects, you never know how the fiber is going to be.

my quarantine challenge

Designed by Gun-Marie Nalsen 2020

Rug hooking, needle felting and painting

Hand dyed wool roving, hand dyed wool fabric, markers

Mounted on a canvas

6″ x 6″

This is a #kdmstudio30daychallenge that I did. It was fun because each day I had to make something about the day. So one day I made bread, the other I found lilies, another I was sleepy, and so on. I used markers to paint some of it, rug hooking, needle felting. The difficult part was to put everything together, as I had started randomly. But it worked, one part is me and my heart and food and the rest is our house with flowers and a waterfall and rain. You have to imagine all!

It was made during the #coronavirusquarantine, so that is all!

Needle felting

Another seashore, typical me! I suppose it is because the summer is here and I am missing the sea! This is an invented sunset, but it could be real!

Needle felting

Hand dyed wool roving on wool fabric

Framed

5.” x 7.5″

As usual me and the sea ! I love to make seashores, this is special because it is made by just putting the wool roving by layers, making the design, and then pressing it down with the glass of the frame. You never know how it is going to be, love the effects!

abstract

Designed from a picture and felted by Gun-Marie Nalsen 2020

Needle felting

Hand dyed wool roving on wool fabric

Framed

6″ x 8″

This is a picture of a reflection in a wood. The result is more abstract , so be it! Sometimes the results is not the one you expect, but I am pleased with it. Also is a way of concentrate more in those uncertain moments that we are living! Thanks for having so much material to work with! Stay safe!

fluffy little bird

Design from a card and felted by Gun-Marie Nalsen 2020

Needle felting

Hand dyed wool roving on wool fabric

I like to work on hoops because it is framed already. Birds are creatures nice to felt, they always look fluffy! Passing the time in the quarantine of the Corona virus, difficult times to everybody. Stay home!

pandemia

Designed and woven by Gun-Marie Nalsen 2020

Tapestry, rug hooking and needle felting

Hand dyed wool roving, wool fabric, linen and cotton yarn on a linen warp

8″ x 14″

Mounted on a branch

The times we are living are difficult. It feels so strange to be in quarantine at home for weeks and weeks. So many people have died with this virus, it is so sad. This piece has been growing day by day, and it represents the terrible virus, but as it developed, I put a sun at the top, which means that we are going to make it , hopefully our life is going to be better!
